How it works

  1. 1

Join a swap round near you

Each round has one theme and one swap day, such as a Westside Holiday Decor Swap on December 6 or a Library Puzzle Swap. Local only, no shipping.

  2. 2

    List what you're giving away

A photo and a short note: a box of blue ornaments, a 1000-piece puzzle, a board game you played once.

  3. 3

    Pick what you'd happily take

Browse the other items and tap "I'd take this" on as many as you like. You only ever receive something you picked.

  4. 4

    Wait for the deadline

When sign-ups close, everyone's picks are matched at once into circles where each person gets something they chose.

  5. 5

    See your match

"You're in a circle! Your ornaments go to Maria. You get Tom's light-up reindeer."

  6. 6

    Show up on swap day

Everyone meets at one place, like a library or a community center. Drop off, pick up, done.

An example circle

You want Tom's reindeer, Tom wants Maria's wreath and Maria wants your ornaments. No one-to-one trade works, but together everyone wins.

Circles can hold 2 or 10 people; you never notice the difference.

Questions

Whatever the round is about: holiday decorations, board games, puzzles, books, plants, LEGO, kids' clothes and toys. Each round has one theme, so everyone's picks overlap.

You keep your item, nothing lost. Relist it next round or give it away.

Everyone swaps at the same place and time, so circles complete on the spot. A volunteer holds items for a missing person, and backup matches fill gaps. No-shows can't join the next round.

You decide what's fair: you only say yes to items you'd be happy with.

Yes, each item is matched separately.

It is free to join. Organizers such as schools, libraries, clubs and neighborhood groups run their own rounds.
